Mar. 9th, 2008 09:55 pm TITANIC'S CHILDHOOD

Titanic’s Childhood

(How Titanic and his siblings came to live in Belfast)

            Young Titanic blew his whistle playfully as he chased after a seagull that was flying overhead. He was about two years old and his sister Olympic was 3 years old. The seagull landed on a post near by at the harbor he an his family was hiding out in and Titanic crept up to it as if he were a lion creeping up on an unaware bird. He crouched his bow lower as his stern in the air.

“Titanic what are you doing?” His mother, the Katharine, asked as she was caring for his sickly little brother, the Britannic.

“Nothing.” Titanic lied as he lunged for the white bird. It flew away just in time for him to bump his nose into the post. The seagull was so agitated with the young liner harassing it that it circled back and began to peck at Titanic’s forecastle deck causing him great pain.

Titanic yowled in pain as the bird continued to peck away at him. He was sailing around trying to get away from it, but being still so small he couldn’t sail that fast.

“GO ON! SHOO!” Titanic’s father, the Clifton, said to the bird as it then squawked and flew away. Looking at Titanic he then began said, “You shouldn’t tease smaller creatures like that. You must respect nature and all its creatures, they won’t respect you otherwise.”

“Yes da’.” Titanic said as he and Olympic sailed up to his mother and they curled up next to her. His mother nuzzled them affectionately as Britannic yawned a big yawn and huddled in with them.

“Tell us again daddy.” Olympic said, “About the harbor for ghost ships.” She knew that her parents were trying to get to this harbor because they themselves were ghost ships and wanted a safe harbor to raise their children. Titanic, Olympic, and Britannic were all technically ghost ships themselves because of their parents. Clifton and Katharine both knew that salvagers would also be after their children as well as them and so had to get to a safe harbor and fast before they were found out. Clifton smiled at the 3 bright eyed liners and started to tell them.

“It is a harbor of unparalleled peace and joy. A paradise.” Clifton began, “And no salvager can ever find it. We will be completely safe there to start a new life.”

“A new life.” Katharine said as a tear slipped down her bow, “Can it really be possible. To start over with no worries what so ever.”

“We should sleep now. To get our strength up for the journey ahead.”  Clifton said as they all huddled together and drifted off to sleep for the night.

(A few hours later)

            Everyone wake up.” Clifton whispered to his family, “There are salvagers here. We must get out of here now.”

            “Mommy what’s going on?” Britannic asked as he sleepily opened his eyes.

            “We’re leaving baby.” Katharine whispered as she picked Britannic up by his forward well deck like a lioness picking up her cub.

            “OVER THERE!” They all heard a salvager shout as they started to head for the family of ghost ships, “THERE ARE SOME GHOST SHIPS! CATCH THEM!”

            “RUN! RUN NOW!” Clifton shouted as they all started to sail as fast as they could for the ghost ship harbor.

            It was then the salvagers had pounced on Titanic’s parents and the three shiplings stopped and started to rush for them.

            “NO!” Katharine shouted, “YOU MUST GET OUT OF HERE.”

            “But mommy…” Titanic said, “What about-“

            “Just go!” Katharine shouted with tears in her eyes, “I will always love you.”

            “I love you mommy.” Titanic said as Olympic picked up Britannic and they sailed away for a safe harbor for the night.

            “Let’s go you two!” The salvager barked as he and the others dragged the two ghost ships away.

(3 days later)

Thomas Andrews was strolling through Harland and Wolff shipyards. Making sure every thing was in order as far as ship building was concerned. The shipbuilders were working on a new liner and he wanted to make sure it all went well. He was walking with his uncle, lord Pirie, who owned the shipyard and they were discussing the plans for this new liner.

 “White Star Line will be pleased with this ship I must say. She’s the most luxurious of her class.” Pirie said.

“Hmm…I'm sure Mr. Ismay will have something to say on the matter, he always does.” Andrews grumbled.

“WHAT THE DEVIL!” Pirie shouted as he felt a sharp jerk at his pants cuff. He looked down to see Titanic tugging at his pants leg.

“Why, it’s a shipling.” Andrews said as he picked Titanic up, “Hello there. Who are you?”

“Titanic, sir.” Titanic quietly said as Olympic and Britannic soon joined him.

“There’s 3 of them.” Pirie said.

“I wonder where their parents are?” Andrews said.

“They were captured.” Olympic said, “They were ghost ships and salvagers took them.”

“You poor things.” Andrews said, “Come with me.”

“What are you going to do?” Pirie asked.

“Take care of them, at least until they are old enough to fly a company flag.” Andrews said as he led the three shiplings off for food and a good home.

Jan. 29th, 2008 12:34 pm HUMAN PET

(What happens when a human becomes a slave to the ships?)

COME ON MOVE IT YOU LOUSY LUMP OF SCRAP!” A man shouted as he put a blast of energy hard enough into the helm of the Mirabelle to cause her great pain, “You're duties are to keep the passengers happy, and the best way to do that is with speed, so MOVE!”

“BUT I AM TRYING MY CAPTAIN!” Mirabelle cried out in pain, “HONESTLY I AM!”  She was a young ocean liner who had never really been used to going so fast but her captain didn’t care.

“NO YOU’RE JUST BEING LAZY!” The captain shouted louder, “I AM YOUR MASTER AND I SAY MOVE IT OR I'll BEAT YOU SO HARD YOU WON’T KNOW WHAT DAY OF THE WEEK IT IS!”

“Yes my captain.” Mirabelle quietly said as a tear slipped down her bow as she sped up.

“That’s a good ship.” The captain said, a sneer across his lips, “See, you’ll find it so much easier if you just stop fighting and learn your place is to serve humans.”

            Mirabelle sighed sadly to herself as she thought, “Oh if only I were in the Midlands, then he would be the slave instead of my great race.”

            She sadly sailed on to the docks of New York where she was given a horrible beating after the passengers had left as an incentive for being faster next time.

(A few hours later)

            Mirabelle sat in her dock and quietly sobbed. She tried her best to contain her tears for fear of another beating from her captain. She did this every night she was at a port so it was not new to her. It was then a sweet rich voice spoke out to her and softly called her name.

            “Dry your eyes Mirabelle, my child.” The voice said, “I have come to help you.”

            “Whose there?” Mirabelle asked with a sniffle as her funnels shot forward in confusion as she looked into the night sky, “Come about.”

            “It is I my child.” The voice said once more, “The goddess of ships, I have watched you since you were but a shipling. You are grieved my child, you dream of new waters and freedom from humans.”

            “What do you mean my lady?” Mirabelle asked as the tears seemed to pause for a few minutes.

            “I plan to take you home, to the Midlands.” The goddess said, “You will be free amongst your kind.”

            “OH REALLY AND TRULY!” Mirabelle happily shouted the tears now filled with joy, “Oh thank you my lady, thank you!”

            “That ship is mine!” Her captain said, accidentally overhearing their conversation, “She’s not going anywhere!”

            A bright light filled the sky as the three of them vanished from the face of this world and into the midlands.

(2 seconds later)

      The light disappeared and to Mirabelle’s great delight, she found her self back at the Midlands, along with her captain totally unaware.

            “WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING!” Mirabelle heard her captain roar. A few ships heard her as well and started to draw near.

            “CAPTAIN!” Mirabelle shouted in shock and fear, “W-what are you doing here!”

            “I'm taking you back!” The captain barked as he worked another spell to make an obedience collar appear “But this time I'm going to make sure you don’t disobey me again.”

            “NO I DON’T WANT TO GO BACK! I'M HAPPY HERE!” Mirabelle shouted as she then called out, “SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME!”

            “A HUMAN!” one ship screamed in shock, “GRAB HIM!”

            “What’s going on?” The captain shouted as he suddenly felt himself being bound and taken away to be sold as a slave, like so many other humans in the midlands.

            “This one used to be a captain.” One ship said, “He aught to be worth a lot.”

            “He is not to be sold.” They all heard the goddess say, “This human is to be Mirabelle’s new pet.”

            They slapped an obedience collar around his neck and a leash as he growled, “Never did I think I’d live to see the day when I was a slave to a lousy ship.”

Dec. 12th, 2007 11:34 pm TITANIC'S WORST NIGHTMARE

Titanic’s Worst Nightmare

(what happened to titanic when he crossed paths with Ismay’s ghost)

            Titanic was happily sailing along, not a care in the world. He was free, free from Ismay’s cruelty and free from the tortures the salvagers had to offer. His momentary daydream was shattered when he saw a small ship sailing in front of him. It wasn’t the ship that scared him, it was who was on it that did.

            “It’s you!” Titanic said in fear as he started to back up, “Your supposed to be dead!”

            “I could say the same of you, Titanic.” Ismay said, his eyes cold and full of hatred for the great ship, “Now I'm going to make sure you suffer, like I did and continue to do for YOUR mistakes!”

            “But you told me to go that fast and not turn!” Titanic stammered in fear as he noticed 4 other ships circle menacingly around him, waiting to pounce, “I-I was only following your orders.”

            “HOW DARE YOU BLAME THIS ON ME!” Ismay shouted as he nodded to the other ships, “You always were a stubborn ship, Titanic, never listened to your masters. Now I'm going to break you of that habit once and for all.”

            “NO!” Titanic shouted in fear as he tried to sail away, “I won’t go back!”

            “TAKE HIM!” Ismay shouted as the other ships quickly tied Titanic down tightly. The whole Titanic was fighting and struggling to break free, pleading with Ismay to let him go.

            “PLEASE! I don’t want to go!” Titanic franticly begged, “You can’t do this, I'm innocent!”

            Titanic’s pleas fell on deaf ears as the ships dragged him off to where Ismay was hiding out, for a series of very painful and slow tortures.

Dec. 10th, 2007 09:08 am FLY A MILE IN ANOTHER SHIP'S WAKE (finale)

(A Few Hours Later)

Frankie was still tugging at his ropes when a pair of lab ships approached him.

“What do you want from me?” He asked the two ships, “Why am I here!”

“Easy there little one.” The first of the two, obviously older, said, “You don’t want to overexert yourself on your first day now do you.”

“Let me go!” Frankie said in fear as he tugged at the ropes, “What will you do to me.”

“You will be used for naval experiments.” The second of the lab ships said, “Weapons testing and the sort.”

Frankie was no fool. He knew what happened to ships that were used as military targets. He pressed hard against his restraints as he pleaded with the lab ships. It had done no good; they only chuckled at him and sailed away. Frankie flopped down and began to cry.

            “If only I hadn’t turned that ship over to the salvagers!” Frankie cried as big tears of regret slid down his bow, “I’d never have been in this mess!”

            “Don’t worry child.” Frankie could hear an old container ship say, “You’ll be fine. It only hurts for a while, that’s what I'm told.”

            “I don’t want to die.” Frankie sniffled, “And I don’t plan to.”

“What do you mean?” The old container ship asked.

“I'm getting out of here.” Frankie said as he managed to slip off the ropes, “Come with me.”

“I thought you’d never ask.” The old container ship said as Frankie helped to pull off the ropes.

As they sailed off Frankie swore he heard the voice that changed him to a ship.

“Well done Frankie.” The voice whispered, “Now you have truly earned your wings.”

As Frankie was following the old container ship into the horizon he felt him self lift into the air as he changed back to his original form.

To this day Frankie does all he can to help his new sea fearing friends and has never forgotten what the goddess of ships has taught him.

Dec. 3rd, 2007 09:30 pm FLY ANOTHER MILE IN A SHIP'S WAKE (PT3)

(Later That Day)

      Frankie woke up to quite a shock. When he looked around and saw that he was not submerged below the water like he expected to be after such a crash he looked in it and saw a ship staring back at him.

            “AAAH! WHAT HAPPENED TO ME!” Frankie shouted in disbelief, “I-I'M A SHIP! I CAN’T BE I'M A PLANE NOT A SHIP!”  He then looked up once he heard his friends flying overhead.

            “It’s the guys!” Frankie thought, “They’ll help me!” Frankie then began to blast his horn like he’d seen so many ships do to catch attention. The two planes glanced back but made no move to stop or circle back.

            “GUYS, IT’S ME, FRANKIE!” Frankie shouted, “YOU GOTTA HELP ME! I'VE BEEN TURNED INTO A SHIP!”

            The two planes didn’t even give Frankie a second glance but just kept soaring through the sky until they became a small dot to poor Frankie.

            “They don’t even recognize me.” Frankie sadly said to himself. It was then he felt a sharp jerk on his bow. He looked to see what it was and his eyes shot wide open.

            “Hold him steady!” he heard one ship shout as another rope was thrown around his forward ballasts, “The lab should like this one. His lines are good and he’s of a strong look!”

            It was not too long after that the lab ships had Frankie bound and was dragging him off to the harbor they lived in.

Nov. 14th, 2007 11:41 am FLY A MILE IN ANOTHER SHIP'S WAKE (pt2)

(2 Days Later)

            Frankie was flying transatlantic flights when he spotted a ghost liner happily sailing beneath him. He instantly recognized the ship as the Andrea Doria.

            “Filthy ghost ships.” Frankie bitterly thought to himself, “It’s a sin against nature itself to allow one of those old hulks to freely roam the seas.”

            Frankie’s face then twisted up in an evil smirk as he spotted the salvager that was only 20 miles away and unaware that his prey was slowly sailing away.

            “I know just what to do.” Frankie evilly sneered to himself as he flew over to the salvager and shouted to him while dropping his altitude low enough for the ship to hear, “GREAT SALVAGER! LOOK UP!”

            The salvager looked up to see Frankie wheeling swiftly back and forth like a bird of prey.

            “WHAT DO YOU WANT?” The salvager barked as it looked up to Frankie.

            “YOUR KIND HUNTS DOWN GHOST SHIPS FOR MONEY, AM I CORRECT!” Frankie hollered back as he continued to wheel around his funnel, “YOU’RE KIND AND MINE ARE ALLIES, WE HAVE BEEN SINCE THE FIRST PLANE WAS BORN ON THAT BLESSED DAY!”

            “THIS IS TRUE!” The salvager shouted up to him, “SO WHY HAVE YOU COME TO ME NOW!”

            “THERE IS A GHOST SHIP ONLY 20 MILES WEST OF YOU!” Frankie shouted, “IT IS THE ANDREA DORIA! SHE IS SAILING ALONG JUST RIPE FOR THE PICKING!”

            The salvager smiled a greedy grin to himself, his green eyes brightening at the thought of another ghost ship for their collection. He called for the rest of his fleet and they sailed towards their unsuspecting prey with Frankie leading them.

            “THERE SHE IS!” Frankie shouted as he pointed down to Andrea Doria.

            “REMEMBER WE WANT HER ALIVE!” The salvager shouted back to his friends. Frankie waved one wing at the poor old ship as she was quickly tied and lead away with her bow hanging low in defeat to the salvager’s home port.

            Frankie’s cockpit began to ache with pain as he could hear the same familiar voice that was speaking to him after he pulled the prank with the fireworks only now it was furious.

            “FRANKIE YOU WERE WARNED!” Frankie heard the voice angrily say, “SINCE YOU DID NOT HEED THE WARNING AS AN AIR LINER PERHAPS YOU WILL AS AN OCEAN LINER!”  Frankie began to feel real dizzy as he was flying.

            “What’s happening to me?” Frankie fearfully said as he started to loose altitude.  He looked to his engines expecting to see them burst into flames but saw something much more horrifying. They were turning black and starting to shrink. He hit the water with such a splash it knocked him out cold. He drifted unconscious in the seas as he slowly turned into a ship.

Fly a Mile in another Ship’s Wake

(The story of a young plane who found himself in a very different world)

Frankie was just your average airliner. He was fast large and often prided himself on his quick whit. He had two friends, Tom and Charlie, Tom was a 747 while Charlie was a cargo plane. One of their favorite ways to pass the time would be to torment the older ocean liners who could never catch them for they were far too fast and could fly high above the clouds. Today would be like any other hum drum day where they were with little or no cargo for hours on end.

            “HEY LOOK!” Frankie shouted to the other planes, “THERE’S AN OLD OCEAN LINER ASLEEP BELOW!”

            “WELL I DID JUST GET A SHIPMENT OF FIREWORKS BOUND FOR NEW ZEALAND.” Charlie shouted up to Frankie, “I THINK ITS TIME WE GIVE THAT TIN TUB A WAKE UP CALL!”

            “GREAT IDEA!” Frankie shouted as he and the others flew low enough to be level with the ship’s propellers and rudder.

            Because Charlie was an amphibious plane, he was able to land on the water and easily tie the fireworks to the ship’s rudder, high enough so the water wouldn’t get them wet. He then lit the fuses and they all flew high enough to see the show but not be seen.

            “WHOA! AHHH!” The ship shouted as he was jolted awake by the loud explosions from fireworks that were large enough to light up the sky.

            The three planes laughed so hard they almost fell out of the sky as they watched the poor old ocean liner run around in fear, hoping to avoid the explosions behind him. Once the fireworks stopped and the ship realized it was all part of a mean prank, he looked to the sky where the planes were laughing at him.

            “YOU ROTTEN PLANES!” The ship shouted up to them, “ONE OF THESE DAYS YOUR ARROGANCE IS GOING TO GET YOU IN A LOT OF TROUBLE!”

            “YEA COME UP HERE AND SAY THAT YOU TIN TUB!” Frankie shouted to him as the other planes laughed.

            “Frankie, you must head his words.” Frankie heard a mysterious voice say. He looked down to see an old sailing vessel anchored below him but just out of sight of his friends.

            “COME ON Frankie! LET’S GO!” Tom shouted to him. Frankie merely ignored the vessel’s words as he flew off with his friends.

Oct. 28th, 2007 03:25 am A WORLD OF CHANGE

(What if the Titanic had reached New York harbor after he sank)

          It had been 95 years since Titanic’s maiden voyage. He never made it to New York and still wondered what it looked like. He just had to find out. With his mage, Nimble’s permission, Titanic set out for New York.

            After a few hours Titanic spotted a large cruise ship that was heading his way.  Titanic was so distracted by his sheer size that they almost collided. The ship quickly dodged out of the way as he snorted in disgust at Titanic’s direction.

            “MOVE IT YOU OLD RUST BUCKET!” The cruise ship barked as it sailed past him.

            “Rust bucket, me?” Titanic thought to himself as he snorted in the ships direction, “I'm no rust bucket; I keep my hull in perfect condition, hardly a barnacle on the keel. Some shiplings have no respect.” Titanic shook the thoughts from his bow and continued to sail on until he heard the sound of a plane flying over head. He’d never seen or heard one before so he naturally jumped and looked up at the sky when it flew by.

            “By the goddess.” Titanic said in amazement, “What in the name of Pearl Harbor was that?”

            “It’s called a plane.” Titanic heard a voice say from one side. He looked to his right and saw a large ocean liner that was standing not too far from him and was a little larger than him.

            “They are mindless beasts that have all but wiped our kind out.” The ship said.

            “And who might you be.” Titanic asked with great curiosity.

            “I am the Queen Elizabeth 2.” The ship said, “Of the Cunard line.” Noticing Titanic’s name on his bow her eyes widened and her mouth almost fell open.

            “Hey you’re, the Titanic.” QE2 said in great shock, “I've never seen a ghost ship before, what are you doing here.”

            “I never saw new York harbor.” Titanic said, “I thought I’d make my way over here to see it.”

            “Well I have to make a stop there, I'll go with you.” QE2 said as she sailed into New York harbor with Titanic.

            New York was unlike anything Titanic had ever seen. It was filled with skyscrapers, trains, planes, traffic, and ships. Some of the ships that saw him stopped to offer gossip to the nearest ship.

            “Isn’t that the Titanic?” Titanic could hear one ship whisper to his friend.

            “Why yes I believe it is.” The second ship whispered back, “I wonder what he’s doing way out here and not in the ghost ship’s harbor.”

            “Perhaps he figures its better late than never.” The first ghost ship snickered. They both laughed at this as Titanic sadly moved forward.

            Titanic was in absolute awe over the great city but was ripped from his amassment by on shrill voice.

            “HOW DARE YOU LAND HERE!” An old woman shrieked to him, “HOW DARE YOU EVEN THINK OF PULLING INTO THIS HARBOR AFTER WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!”

            Titanic knew instantly who she was. She was named Thelma Breen, One of the first class passengers that survived his sinking but was widowed and lost her children in the process. His jaw fell open as he tried desperately to find words.

            “You KILLED my family! My husband and my little baby boy!” The woman shrieked, “You killed them. You don’t deserve to still be afloat.”

            “But the humans, they-” Titanic stuttered.

            “Typical of a ship.” The woman sneered in disgust, “Blame the humans for YOUR mistake. Even salvaging would be too good for you.”

            Titanic’s funnels drooped back in sorrow as he started to sadly sail off. QE2 turned to the human, anger burning in her eyes, and began to shout at her.

            “HOW DARE YOU!” QE2 angrily shouted, “IT WAS THE FAULT OF THE HUMANS THAT KILLED THIS SHIP!”

            “IMPUDENT SHIP!” The woman shouted back, “Your kind has been treated too well and therefore become arrogant, just like the Titanic!”

            QE2 was furious with this woman. She opened her mouth once more to say something when Titanic stopped her by saying, “It’s no use, and they’ll never change their minds.”

            Titanic sadly sailed off as he thought, “I will always be a horrible disaster in their eyes.”

Oct. 17th, 2007 03:33 pm THE PRODIGAL SHIP

The Prodigal Ship

(This story is a back story to a book i had written on deviantART.com)

Titanic raced on as hard as he could, trying to put as much distance between him and the salvagers as possible.

Unfortunately for him he was totally deaf in his fourth funnel and could not hear any thing that was coming directly from behind him. He'd been this way since birth.

He then dove into a dark cove, out of the salvager’s line of sight.

"HURRY UP WE CAN'T LET HIM GET AWAY!" Titanic heard one salvager shout, "THAT SHIP IS WORTH WAY TOO MUCH MONEY TO LET GO."

With in a few moments Titanic was totally alone with the dark.

He was in far too much pain to go anywhere right now, due to years of being torn apart by salvagers. He just sat there and panted heavily.

It was then he'd decided he must find his old fleet of ghost ships. He had surrendered years ago so that they might be safe he needed to make sure that was still true.

Once he was certain the coast was clear, Titanic got up and slowly started making his way forward to his old harbor, praying it was still safe.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Carpethia sat and watched the sea, like she'd do on a daily basis, praying Titanic would some day show up on the horizon.
It had been 85 years since his capture but she knew Titanic was too strong to let salvagers stop him. He promised he'd find her and she still held fast to that promise.
It was then she could hear she short blasts of her son's horn. She could tell by the panic in those blasts he was having a bad dream and now wanted his mommy.
Carpethia rushed over to the dock where the small crying liner was.
"Jack, Jack! It's ok; it was all just a bad dream." Carpethia said in her sweetest tone of voice.
"Daddy was here, and these ships were trying to hurt him!" Jack cried.
"No, no, it's all just a bad dream." Carpethia said, trying to fight back the tears herself.
"THEN WHERE'S DADDY!" Jack demanded.
"I don't know sweetie, I don't know." Carpethia said, tears beginning to slip, "Go back to bed now, it'll be alright."
Once she'd settled Jack down and got him to sleep, she went back to her spot and began to sob, "Oh Titanic! Where are you?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(The next morning)

Carpethia never left that spot all night; she herself couldn’t sleep not after what Jack said last night. She didn't know what to tell Jack, he was too young to understand the evil ways of the salvagers or why ghost ships must remain in constant hiding. The one thought that comforted her was that Jack wasn’t a full blooded ghost ship; he could still hide amongst the living. Before Titanic sank, he was able to do the same because both his parents were ghost ships.

It was then her eyes drifted to a black spot on the horizon.

"A new ghost ship has come to join the fleet." Carpethia said to herself, "Too small to be Titanic, must have been some poor freighter caught in a bad storm."

As the dot grew larger she could see that this ship had four funnels.

"It couldn't be..." Carpathia whispered.

It was.

"TITANIC!" Carpethia cried out as she shot out of the harbor towards the slowly listing ship, "PRAISE THE GODDESS! YOU’RE ALIVE!"

Titanic held her tightly as she sobbed into his hull, "After all these years, I thought you were dead!"

"It's alright, my love, I’ve come to stay." Titanic softly whispered.

"I love you so much." Carpethia said.

"And i love you." Titanic replied.

"Mommy?" They heard a sleepy voice say.

Carpethia quickly wiped her tears away and turned to their son.

Jack sailed out of the harbor as Carpethia looked up at Titanic and said, "Say hello to your son."

Titanic smiled a warm smile at Jack as he held is boy tightly tears of pride and joy falling from his sad blue eyes.

"DADDY! DADDY! YOU’RE HOME!" Jack happily said, "You won't leave again will you?"

"No, I’ll never leave again." Titanic said, "Never ever again."

Oct. 15th, 2007 07:32 am THE INNOCENT VICTIM

The Innocent Victim

(A story of Titanic’s first encounter with the salvagers)

          Titanic was sadly making his way through the ocean to the harbor of ghost ships. He felt horrible, less than a few hours ago he’d sunk and took 1500 men women and children with him. He sailed with his bow hung in defeat and his funnels drooped back in shame. The ocean seemed so cold and empty to him now.

            “They lied to me.” Were the only words that he could seem to form at the moment, “They said I’d be the greatest ship there ever was. Now I'm a murderer, I don’t even deserve an afterlife.”

            It was then his mind begun to wander back to those last horrible minutes. And he had begun to think about seeing Carpathia again. Sadly when he saw her he could no longer take her close to him again. Not now. The humans would have seen. He’d just have to wait for the day he could take her again. The thought of that saddened him.

            “Every thing I ever held dear is gone.” Titanic said as he sailed over to a small cove and just flopped down, “My home, my friends, my family and even my mate. I won’t ever see them ever again.”

            It was then Titanic could hear the sardonic chuckle of a near by ship off to port. Though he was deaf to anything directly behind him, he was able to hear anything that was left, right, or in front of him.

            “You poor ghost ship.” Titanic could hear the voice hiss, “All alone in the world with no one who can ever accept you. In the worlds eyes you will always be a horrible disaster.”

            “What can I do?” Titanic sadly asked as he looked up at the direction of the mysterious voice.

            “Come with us.” The voice called to him, “We can take you to a place were all your grief and worries will seem so futile.”

            The offer seemed so tempting to poor young Titanic. He then remembered about the harbor that was home to only ghost ships, and begun to wonder if this voice was from that place.

            “Are you from the harbor of ghost ships?” Titanic innocently asked.

            The voice only chuckled as it said, “Where I am from, there are many ghost ships.”

            “Really?” Titanic asked with hope.

            “Yes, young one.” The voice said as Titanic then looked around at several ships that were heading his way with looks of greed in their eyes. Titanic’s eyes widened with fear as one word came to mind.

            “Salvagers!” Titanic thought as he begun to back away, recalling what his parents were telling him just before they were taken by salvagers.

            “Why do you act so afraid, ghost ship?” The voice said as it stepped out of the darkness to rejoin its salvager brethren “Were only trying to help.”

            “No.” Titanic fearfully said as he shook his bow while still backing away, “You're salvagers. You capture ghost ships and tear them apart while they are alive.”

            “Either way…” The salvager said as he gave an evil grin to Titanic, “You're coming with us…you aught to be worth something, a large passenger liner like you.”

            Titanic tried to turn and run but one of the ships had thrown a rope around his ballasts.

            “NO!” Titanic fearfully shouted as he tried to break the rope and run off but soon the other salvagers were able to bind him into submission, “I DON’T WANT TO GO! PLEASE LET ME GO!”

            “HEY THIS SHIP IS THE TITANIC.” One of the salvagers shouted.

            “Oh, we have a celebrity amongst us.” The salvager said, “We must be sure to show him our best.”

            The salvagers then dragged Titanic off as Titanic’s engines begun to pound with great fear at the though of what they were going to do to him when they get to their home port.

Oct. 7th, 2007 08:10 pm THE ARROGANT DESTROYER

The Arrogant Destroyer

(Based on one of my favorite jokes my father would tell…may he rest in peace)

Dwight was gleaming with pride as he sliced through the seas, doing everything he could to show off for his crew and captain during his first of many maneuvers. He loved his captain and crew and could tell they shared this mutual respect as well. His captain could be strict at times however, but it was more out of concern for the young battleship. Though the one thing the captain never believed in was tying a ship to a dock; that was because the man came from along line of ship mages.

“Captain, I see a light up ahead.” The lookout called to the captain through the tubes that were used for communication throughout the ship.

“What should I do, captain?” Dwight asked.

“Tell that other ship they need to turn.” The captain said, “You’re on maneuvers, they know to turn.”

Dwight shouted to the other ship, “EXCUSE ME BUT I THINK YOU NEED TO TURN, MY CAPTAIN TOLD ME I KNEED TO HOLD MY COARSE!”

“I DON’T FEEL LIKE IT!” Dwight could hear the other voice shout back. By the sounds of it, it was much older than he was, “YOU CHANGE COARSE!”

Dwight blinked in disbelief; he’d never heard such rudeness before. All he could do was ask, “What do I do now captain?”

“Hold your coarse.” The captain said, “You need to learn to take the upper hand and tell him to move. Tell him to move.”

“MY CAPTAIN GAVE ME ORDERS TO HOLD MY COURSE.” Dwight shouted as the light grew brighter, “YOU MOVE!”

“TELL YOUR CAPTAIN TO BLOW IT OUT HIS BUTT!” The voice shouted back, “I'M NOT MOVING!”

Dwight could tell his captain was starting to get mad, it was a rare occasion.

“HEY HE’S A UNITED STATES NAVEL CAPTAIN!” Dwight shouted, “SO MOVE IT!”

“YEA AND YOU'RE TALKING TO A SECOND CLASS SEAMAN! I COULDN’T CARE LESS!” The voice barked back, “LAST TIME I WILL SAY THIS, MOVE YOUR SORRY BUTT OR I’LL MAKE YOU SORRY!”

It was then his captain was furious. More angry than what Dwight had ever seen in his short life. As soon as he reached the voice’s frequency he began to shout at the man.

“NOW YOU LISTEN HERE!” The captain shouted, “I AM THE CAPTAIN OF A NAVAL DESTROYER AND I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE COURSE!”

“AND I'M A LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER!” The voice snapped back, “YOU CHANGE COURSE!”

“Dwight you might want to change coarse so we don’t hit the lighthouse.” The captain said; his face flushed with embarrassment. Dwight quietly complied as he was trying not to laugh at the silly mistake.

Oct. 7th, 2007 06:06 pm LIKE FATHER UNLIKE SON

Like Father, Unlike Son

(A short story about how what parents want for their children is different than what the kids want themselves.)

      Steve Ritter scratched at the stiff collar that choked him. He hated his school uniform it was so drab and colorless. “Lousy school uniform.” Steve griped as he loosened his tie hoping to relieve his misery.

“I don’t even know why I have to go to this school in the first place; I told dad I wanted to be a mage, not a salvager.” He knew that no matter how much he griped and complained, his father was still determined that he was to take up the family business as a great salvager.  Steve looked up as the Ralph White School for Salvagers loomed over head like a great prison or asylum out of some horror movie he’d seen before. The bell rang as Steve let out a heavy sigh.

“Better get this over with.” Steve said as he drudged in to school while tightening his tie, it felt like he was tightening a noose.

(1st Period)

          Steve sat in his Anatomy of a Ghost Ship class. He hated this class, not only was it boring but the sight of dead ship spirits and parts of dead ship spirits sitting around staring at him was always a creepy sight. He also couldn’t stand his professor, the man was a salvager and a dark mage, his ship was a salvager was sitting on his shoulder and looking around at the students, waiting to rat to one of then that was sleeping or not paying attention.

            “NOW THE EASIEST WAY TO CAPTURE A GHOST SHIP IS BY THROWING A MOORING ROPE AROUND ITS FORWARD BALLASTS!” Steve could hear his professor say very loudly as he was holding up a well preserved bow of a ship spirit and pointing to the ballasts on the forecastle deck, “THIS WAY IF YOU PULL THE ROPE TIGHT ENOUGH THEY CAN’T DART OFF. HOWEVER! YOU MAY WANT TO HAVE SOME SORT OF RESTRAINTS ON THE STERN AS WELL. SOME SHIPS ARE KNOWN FOR POWERFUL PROPELLER THRUSTS AND THAT CAN BE ALMOST DEADLY!”

            Steve hardly paid attention he was too busy doodling ships in his note book again. Most were of ghost ships. He was startled when the ship spirit jumped from his eparch on the professor’s shoulder and on to Steve’s notebook.

            “Mr. Ritter, may I ask just what it is you're doing.” The professor growled out as he loomed over Steve’s desk.

“Just taking notes.” Steve lied, hoping his drawings could be misconstrued as notes.

            “I see.” The professor sneered as he picked up his notes and looked over them, “Mr. Ritter, in the future you may want to write better notes on how to capture ghost ships not, doodles of you playing with them.”

            It was then the bell rang and every student scattered out of the room like a group of cockroaches when a light was turned on while the professor shouted over the excited murmurs, “REMEMBER NEXT TUESDAY IS OUR TEST ON CAPTURE AND SALVAGE! SO DON’T FORGET TO STUDY!”

(The Next day)

Steve waited for the class to start, tapping his pencil on the desk; the sooner it started the sooner it finished.

“Ok class today I have a special surprise for you.” The professor said as he rolled a silver cart around that was full of rectangle shaped objects that were covered in cloth and some even quivered when moved from the cart to each student’s desk. The professor then set one of the boxes on his own desk and said, “You may remove the cloth covers now.”

Steve was horrified at what lied under the cover. It was a ghost ship spirit, but the poor thing was heavily sedated and under restraints.

The ship locked eyes with his and Steve had realized just how horrible his family business really is.

“Now under no circumstance are you to remove these ships restraints when you are in this class.” The professor said, “Can anyone tell me why?”

“Because they’ll attack you?” One boy said as he raised his hand.

“Close.” The professor said, “Any one else?”

A boy, sitting next to Steve raised his hand and said, “Because they’ll try to trick us into not salvaging.”

“RIGHT!” The professor said, “These ghost ships will do anything to get away. Snivel, beg, grovel, or even attack. You cannot trust them!”

Steve thought he was going to be sick. There was no way he cold allow this poor ship to be torn apart.

He grabbed the cadged ship and ran outside, once there he set the ship free and they just kept on running for the horizon, never to return.

Oct. 7th, 2007 05:52 pm THE DARK MAGE (pt 2)

Keewatin stared out of the dingy glass of her bottled prison at Dalton who seemed to be nervously pacing back and fourth. How she wished she could break free and at least find some ship mage who could take care of her. Even if she no longer had a body that could be used anymore.

            “How could this have happened!” Dalton said to himself as he paced back and fourth in his chambers, “How could one ship, and a ghost ship at that, destroy all that I have worked for.”

            “It’s simple!” Keewatin shouted through the bottle, “You're evil! Evil never wins!”

            Dalton was so angered by this comment that he turned around and concentrated all his dark magic on the bottle. Soon it was filled with electricity and poor Keewatin screamed in pain.

            “LEAVE HER ALONE NOW!”  Dalton heard Titanic snarl from behind him.

            “Why should i.” Dalton said as he turned around, Keewatin held tightly in his grasp, “I rather enjoy my new pet.”

            “PUT HER DOWN AND FIGHT ME YOU COWARD!”  Nimble growled.

            Dalton only chuckled at this as he waved his hand over the water. Soon large strands of seaweed shot up like great serpents and wrapped around both Nimble and Herman, leaving them totally helpless as they both dangled in the air.

            “LET THEM GO!” Titanic snarled once more.

            “Tell you what shipwreck.” Dalton said, “If you can defeat me, I’ll let you're little friends go.”

            “That sounds like an easy challenge.” Titanic said.

            “Do not be so sssssssure!” Dalton hissed as a forked tongue protruded from between his teeth. He then began to turn a deep blue green and slowly change into a great sea serpent.

            “Oh dear.” Titanic weakly said, “This is really going to hurt.”

            The serpent made one quick attempt to snap Titanic up in his great jaws, which were about 3 times his size, but Titanic was able to jump back in time. 3 more times this went on before Titanic then lunged for the beast’s throat. He was unable to make it. The sea serpent quickly coiled its massive around the great ship at least 3 times before it held poor Titanic up to its face.

            “So now what will you do, Titanic.” The serpent hissed; its massive fangs only inches from Titanic’s face, “You have lost. However I am feeling generous, submit to me and I shall let you live, you will be my favored pet and have the loosest binds.”

            “LET HIM GO NOW!”  Titanic and the serpent heard Teddy shout as he leapt through the air and bit the serpent’s muzzle.

            Though Teddy was now blind as a bat, his other senses were heightened to high levels.

            “FOOLISH SHIP!” The serpent snapped as it flicked Teddy off as if he were merely a rag doll, “I SHALL TEACH YOU A LESSON ABOUT DEFYING YOUR MASTER YOU WILL NOT SOON FORGET.” With out even letting go of Titanic, he quickly turned his head and snapped the little pleasure boat in half. Teddy let out a short scream before he then died quietly.

            “He killed his own ship.” Nimble said out of shock.

            “I can’t believe it.” Herman said.

            “And now for you.” The serpent hissed as it looked back at Titanic, its hungry jaws looking to make a snack out of his spirit once Titanic’s body was long dead, “What have you chosen?”

            “FREEDOM!” Titanic bellowed as he wriggled out of the serpent’s tail and bit its throat.

            The beast let out a great scream as it slowly died. Once it was dead Titanic just stood there panting heavily as the seaweed let Nimble and Herman drop. Herman drove up Next to Titanic.

            “What could have pushed him to do such horrible things to ships?” Titanic thought aloud, “Greed, or just hunger for power.”

                        It was then Nimble had returned with the recently liberated Keewatin sitting on her shoulder.

            “What do we do about him?” Herman asked.

            “Take him back to the fleet to be given a proper burial.” Nimble said as she then scooped up the body and put in Herman’s back.

            After Herman and Nimble both got on Titanic’s deck, Titanic sailed off for the sunset, happy the ordeal was over.

Oct. 7th, 2007 05:51 pm THE DARK MAGE (pt 1)

The Dark Mage

(A story of what can happen when good mages go bad)

     A great storm arose as five ship mages continued to try and fight off a squadron of planes that had just come over head.

“RUN NOW OR THEY’LL KILL YOU!” One ship mage shouted to Dalton, the youngest of all five mages, in obvious reference to the small group of kamikazes that had spotted him.

            Perhaps the most dangerous thing about kamikazes is that they never die and so were able to smash into a poor ship’s hull over and over again, rejuvenating themselves each time.

            Dalton’s ship, the Theodore Roosevelt or “Teddy” as his friends called him, was catching most of the beatings from the demon planes.

            It was then Titanic, who has been keeping to himself with Nimble and Herman, had shot over to him and grabbed the lead plane. Slinging it around like a large dog playing with a sock, smashing it into the rest of the kamikazes.

            Once Titanic and 3 other ships had made quick work of the planes they turned to notice another horrible sight. Dalton was beating on poor Teddy with his staff shouting, “YOU STUPID BOAT COULDN’T YOU FOR ONCE DO SOMETHING RIGHT!”

            If there was one thing that angered Titanic, Herman, and Nimble the quickest it was the sight of a ship being abused. Titanic had been through enough of that with his owner growing up to know that he never wanted it to happen to another ship.

            There was no need for Nimble to teleport to Teddy, her wings would do nicely and the fact she was really mad helped to make her go faster. Within a flash she was on Teddy’s deck, pinning Dalton to the ground.

            “IF I EVER SEE YOU LAY A HAND ON THIS SHIP AGAIN I’LL TEAR YOU UP SO BAD THERE WON’T EVEN BE ENOUGH LEFT TO PUT IN A SHOE BOX!” Nimble snarled.

             “NIMBLE LET GO!”  Herman shouted as he tugged on her trench coat sleeve, “YOU’RE KILLING HIM!”

            “GOOD I COULD USE THE BUSINESS!” Nimble snarled.

            “NIMBLE KNOCK IT OFF!” Titanic shouted, “I THINK HE GETS YOUR POINT!”

            Nimble stood up and lit one of her cigars, “You just remember what I said.”

            She flew over to Titanic’s deck with Herman following right behind. As the group began to break up Dalton’s lips crossed into a sly smile as he thought, “I’ll make you pay for this, you and the other mages. You’ll see I’ll be the greatest mage of all the seas, no ship will dare defy me again.”

(One Year Later)

     The seas had become a dark and fearsome place to any ship or mage. Dalton had gained control of most of the seas and was hunting down and capturing or killing any poor ship or ship mage that just so happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

            There was one thing that seemed to be of a problem to Dalton was that there was a small fleet of rebel ships that didn’t agree with his tyranny.

            “We must do something!” Titanic said as he stood before the counsel of ships, “We can’t just sit back and let this man enslave our kind!”

            Titanic was probably one of the youngest ships there, though he was a century old. There were ships there from every breed of ships, tall ships, pirate ships, submarines, aircraft carriers, destroyers, liberty ships, cruisers, cruise ships, research vessels and even a  couple of good salvagers in this counsel. He was only there on behalf of the ghost ships. He could tell they looked upon him with respect mixed with a patronizing tone most parents would give an angry teenager.

            “True, but we can’t fight him, we are too few.” The tall ship said.

            “Yes but, we refuse to be slaves to yet another cruel master!” The aircraft carrier spoke up.

            “But if we fight him, he’ll drag us to his prison in the Bermuda Triangle.” The young cruise ship said as she shuddered and fearfully said, “I don’t want to end up like the others. I don’t want to go to the Bermuda Triangle.”

            “You won’t.” Titanic said, “In fact I’m going to personally find those poor ships and free them.”

            The other ships looked at him as if he had just gone mad.

            “ARE YOU INSANE?” The destroyer said, “No ship has EVER returned from the Bermuda Triangle.”

            “Then I guess I got a goal to shoot for.” Titanic said as he started to sail off, “I will not let another ship suffer as I sit idly by.”

            Titanic then sailed off as the tall ship said, “He is young, and does not understand our ways just yet. I pray this will not be his downfall.”

            Titanic raced towards the Bermuda Triangle as Nimble and Herman continued to watch the horizon. Nimble took out a cigar and lit it, wishing more ships had joined them so there would be an actual chance.

            “So you said these ships are all in the Bermuda Triangle?” Nimble asked.

            “Aye, they are.” Titanic said, only half listening to what Nimble or Herman had to say, “And we must get them out of there.”

            “Could be dangerous.” Herman thought aloud, “From what I hear, Dalton has gained more powers in the last year.”

            It was then the three of them could hear a deep throaty growl. Titanic and Herman both replied with a growl of their own as Herman drove in front of Nimble and spread out his massive black raven wings, shaking them as he was needing Titanic’s deck with his tires. Nimble held tightly to her Phantasm scythe as she readied herself for battle.

            Four large ships, larger than Titanic, sailed out from the darkness. The three of them could tell, by the emptiness in their eyes and the collars that ran around their forward well decks and the hull beneath it, that they were nothing more than mindless slaves of Dalton.

            “We can’t hurt them.” Nimble said, “They don’t know what they are doing.”

            “Oh great.” Titanic nervously thought to himself as he looked up at the four massive ships looming over him, “I’m not supposed to hurt them but what is stopping them from hurting me.”

            “So what do we do?” Herman mumbled to Nimble.

            “Surrender now in the name of Lord Dalton and you will not be harmed!” They heard the flagship of the group say. Titanic hated to see that ship utter those words, but knew he never meant a word of what he’d just said.

            “Right now, that seems the best way to find this idiot.” Nimble said.

            “Do you even know what your saying there, Nimble.” Titanic said, his Irish accent becoming more pronounced, “To surrender to a man that has made a mockery of all we stand for.”

            “No what I’m saying is this is the best way of finding him and the ships he holds captive.” Nimble said, “No one really knows where the Bermuda Triangle is and once we are in his layer, we can easily bust loose and rip this sad little boy a new one. I just need you to trust me.”

            “Then surrender we shall.” Titanic said, “If Nimble thinks this is the best Idea, then I do believe it is too.”

            “I do as well.” Herman said.

            “WELL GHOST SHIP!” The flagship bellowed, “WHAT BE YOUR ANSWER!”

            “I guess we have no choice but to surrender.” Titanic lied.

            The four ships each threw a mooring rope over one of Titanic’s forward ballasts and dragged him off towards the Bermuda Triangle.

            Well, well, well…” Dalton slyly said as he walked up to the now growling Titanic, “So you’re the ship that is destined to destroy me.”

            Titanic let out a deep and fearsome growl as Dalton then raised his chin and said, “Such a disobedient ship aren’t we. You shouldn’t act that way to your mage.”

            “You are NOT my mage!” Titanic snapped, “Where are my friends!”

            “Down in the dungeons.” Dalton said as an evil smile spread over his face, “I might let them live, provided you do every thing I say.”

            “Don’t listen to him!” Titanic could hear the muffled voice of a ship spirit say, “He’s pure evil!”

            Titanic looked over to see the spirit of the Keewatin trapped in a large bottle and dying to get out.

            “SILENCE YOU!” Dalton barked as he tapped the glass, the vibrations from inside causing her funnels to hurt.

            “Let her go.” Titanic demanded, “She is of no use to you, her body is tied up in Michigan, so why keep the spirit around.”

            “Because I’ve always wanted a pet.” Dalton sneered, “Take him away.”

            The four ships started to drag Titanic off as Titanic was jerking at the ropes snarling, “YOU WON’T GET AWAY WITH THIS! SHIPS ARE NOT AS EASY TO CONTROL AS YOU THINK WE ARE!”

            “We’ll soon see about that.” Dalton evilly said.

            Titanic sat in the cold dark dungeon of the Bermuda Triangle, not only was he tied to a dock but there was very little water around for him to feed off of. Right now the only thing that mattered was finding out where his friends were. It was then his eyes drifted over to a truly sad sight.

            The Theodore Roosevelt was only about 20 feet from him and was bound in a totally dry dock but Titanic had noticed something else about this ship. When Titanic called out to this ship, the ship would look right at him and ask who was there.

            “He’s totally blind.” Titanic thought to himself.

            “Titanic is that you?” Teddy asked.

            “Aye, it is.” Titanic asked, “What happened to your eyes?”

            Teddy turned his scratched up and burn scarred eyes to Titanic as he said; “Dalton did this, right after we fought the kamikazes together. He said it’d make no difference if I could see or not, I was still a useless fighter and a useless ship. So he locked me up down here as well.”

            “I am sorry.” Titanic said, “But I need to know if you have heard anything about what has happened to Nimble and Herman.”

            “We’re over here Ti.” Titanic could hear Nimble weakly say.

            Titanic looked over to the dock he was bound to and saw that Nimble and Herman were bound to it. Herman was merely tied down with tight chords so that he could not use his wings to free him. The chords had a high amount of dark magic that Titanic could sense, they prevented Herman from using his landau cannons to blast them off or going into his Phantom Hearse mode and just let the ropes slip through his ghostly form. However Nimble had it much worse. She was bound in a way where her talon like hands was bound above her head and to a type of scaffolding above her. She wanted to stand up but couldn’t because there was a neck shackle around her neck that was tightly tied to the dock so it forced her to kneel. However her lion like paws were tied together so she couldn’t kneel but only sit there. It was like torture for her and she was in so much pain, Titanic could tell.

            “Nimble are you guys ok.” Titanic asked.

            “Were fine.” Nimble quietly said, the neck shackle cutting off most of her air, “What about you.”

            “He hasn’t broken me yet and I don’t plan to let him.” Titanic said with a knowing smile on his face.

            Nimble couldn’t help but smile at that.

            “Well now what are we going to do?” Herman asked.

            “Just slip right out of our bonds and kick his sorry butt.” Nimble said.

            “That is easer said than done.” Teddy said.

            “I don’t know about that.” Nimble said as she just finished getting the last of the binds off and rubbed her wrists to life, “I had no problem with it.”

            Titanic merely laughed at this as Nimble went right to work on Herman’s binds and then on Titanic’s bonds.

            Once they had finished that and freed every ship in the prison Titanic looked to Nimble and said, “Our work is not yet finished.”

            “How do you mean?” Nimble asked.

            “Dalton is still free.” Titanic said, “So long as he is alive and well, more and more poor ships are going to suffer.”

            “Then let’s get going.” Nimble said as she then used her magic to summon her Phantom Scythe.

Oct. 7th, 2007 01:59 pm FRIENDS TO THE END

Friends to the End

(A Story of the Bismarck and the Hood)

The rumors were true, Great Britain and Germany were going to war…again. Though the humans were pleased with this fact, and believed it was the right thing to do, the ships all knew better. Some would even make a comment about it being a pointless war for more land. After all, why should a ship care about owning more land? They never used it in the first place, nor did they have a need for it.

If there was one thing this war did cause for the ships was great fear and panic amongst their own kind, what with the invention of the submarine and airplane. Now there was no where for them to hide with these strange creatures watching them. However each country looked to one of their own ships to save their beloved home land, though the ship in question was still very young. Brittan looked to the Hood while Germany looked to the Bismarck.

The only problem wit this is that these two particular ships happened to be best friends and wanted nothing to do with the war.

“This stinks that we have to go to war.” Bismarck said as he looked to the sky and watched the clouds drift by while the sky turned orange from the sunrise, “You’d never see a ship going on like this over something as silly as land.”

Hood merely chuckled at this. He was older than Bismarck by 21 years and had seen some of the First World War’s horrors. He’d even told some of his stories to the young battleship when they were growing up. He felt sorry for Bismarck, this ship was still just a kid but had already gotten an assignment from the cruel tyrant that gripped his homeland to find any merchant ship and sink them. He could tell Bismarck didn’t want to have to do this and had no choice in the matter.

“This war can’t go on forever.” Hood said to reassure Bismarck, “Soon it will be over and every thing can go back to normal.”

He didn’t know if this was true, but it was something that needed to be said.

“I don’t want to have to go tomorrow.” Bismarck sadly said, “What if you and I have to fight, I don’t want to hurt you. But they’ll make me do it anyway.”

“Have no fear of that Biz.” Hood said; using his nickname he’d given the young battle ship, “It’s very unlikely that we’d even see each other in this vast ocean much less have to fight.”

“True.” Bismarck said as he heard his name softly being called. They turned around to see a small Nazi tugboat standing near by.

They knew this boat well, he’d often let Bismarck sneak off so him and Hood could go somewhere to talk. The funny thing was that the humans never knew better because she’d always come get Bismarck just before sunrise.

However this time she’d fallen asleep and was now late, she prayed this wouldn’t blow their secret because she would be in trouble as well for not watching over Bismarck like he was supposed to.

“It’s time to go now.” The tugboat said, “The humans will be up soon.”

“Yes ma’am.” Bismarck said as he sadly looked back at Hood, “Will you come see me tomorrow.”

Hood smiled at him once more and said, “Just look to the shadows and there I’ll be.”

It was then Bismarck and the tugboat made their way back to the harbor as Hood sat and thought, “Poor kid, he just doesn’t have the heart to be a killer.”

(3 months later)

Hood didn’t want to believe the rumors. The other ships say Bismarck has become a great threat, a merciless killer.

“Something needs to be done with that ship.” He heard the Rodney say.

“I say we sink him before he sinks another helpless ship.” King George the 5th said.

“No, you don’t understand.” Hood chimed in, “He’s being ordered to do these terrible things. It’s Hitler’s doing and you know it.”

“Do I understand this correctly, Hood?” The Prince of Wales said, “You're actually sticking for this Nazi ship?”

“You all have seen Bismarck before the war, he wouldn’t harm a fly.” Hood said, “Not unless he had to.”

It was then their discussion was interrupted by the admiral who had just stepped on the dock. The ships snapped to attention as he said, “Our orders are clear.”

He looked at the Hood as he said, “We must sink the Bismarck.”

“With all due respect sir, we might not have to do this.” Hood said.

“He’s right.” Rodney said, “Hood here seems to think we can talk him out of killing.”

The other ships laughed at the joke as Hood angrily said, “Maybe we could take him prisoner or something, I know Biz-Bismarck-if he had a way out of those orders he’d take them for sure. He never wanted the job he got.” Hood had slipped up and used Bismarck’s old nickname and hoped the admiral didn’t hear that.

“Do you really think this would work, Hood?” The admiral asked.

“Yes sir I do.” Hood said, “Just let me lead the fleet, maybe he’d listen to me.”

Hood prayed this was true.

“Alright, Hood I give you this one chance.” The admiral said, “Don’t let me down.”

“I won’t sir.” Hood said.

(May 20, 1941)

        Hood prayed he’d find the Bismarck in time. And most of all he’d hoped that Bismarck would still heed his warnings.

            “THERE’S THE BISMARCK!” Prince of Wales shouted, “I SURE HOPE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING HOOD!”

            “BISMARCK!” Hood called out.

            Bismarck quickly snapped his bow around to see that it was Hood standing before him.

            “I can’t let Prince Eugene see him or he’ll kill him.” Bismarck thought to himself as Prince Eugene spotted the battle cruiser.

            “OPEN FIRE ON THE LEADING SHIP!” Bismarck heard his admiral order.

            “No!” Bismarck thought aloud as he struggled with the men who were trying to aim his massive guns at the ship.

            Although Hood was more experienced in battle, Bismarck knew he’d be able to kill him within a single blow. He just couldn’t let that happen.

            It was then his gun went off, the shell flying high over head, just barely missing Hood.

            Bismarck knew there was no turning back now. Hood’s crew was going to fire back. He only prayed he could just scare the ship off with out harming him.

            “BISMARCK, TARGET THE LEADING SHIP!” His admiral ordered.

            Bismarck was tired of hiding their friendship and he was tired of being used as a weapon of destruction upon ships that didn’t deserve it.

            “NO!” Bismarck growled out.

            “You dare defy me.” The admiral said as he gathered up enough of his dark magic to put a seal on his helm.

            Now there was no where for poor Bismarck to go. He was stuck there totally helpless as his crew readied his massive cannons and fired upon Hood.

            Within a few minutes his friend, his hero, was hit and on his way to the bottom of the ocean floor.

            “HOOD NO!”  Bismarck shouted as he tried to fight back the tears of anger.

            “Congratulations Bismarck.” He could hear his admiral said, “Der furher will be proud.”

            Bismarck felt dead inside; he just killed the only ship that ever truly understood him. That looked past his massive guns and the horrible swastika that was branded all over him like a slave mark.

            He watched in sorrow as the Prince of Whales moved away from the wreckage of his friend.

(May 26, 1941)

        It had been 6 days since Bismarck had, as he put it, murdered his friend. He never spoke rested or even slept since that day. He didn’t even care to. They had finally broken him.

            It was then that his eyes turned upwards to the buzzing noise that came form the tiny squadron of 14 fragile swordfish planes. He knew they were British and that they wanted blood, his blood for the Hood’s death.

            Suddenly Bismarck winced in pain; a torpedo from one of the planes jammed his rudder right up into his propellers. Bismarck was no longer able to move, not that he cared to. He slowed to a pace of 10 knots and waited quietly for death.

            Four ships surrounded Bismarck, looking at him with eyes filled with hate. Bismarck knew his time was up, he only wished he wasn’t so alone. After he felt bad for killing his friend and knew he should be punished but still feared death deep down.

            The ships began to laugh and sneer at the wounded battle ship and he heard one of them make the comment, “If you can’t sink him right away that’s ok, we’ll have a little fun with him.” He knew this meant torture.

            From every direction shells were raining down on him striking him all over until he was just a bloody mass of steel. The other ships laughed and sneered at him like a bunch of school children. “Not so tough are you now sour kraut.” Rodney remarked.  “Where’s you Nazi friends! Have they all left you behind to die?” The Norfolk called out. Although Bismarck’s crew continued to fire his guns, they all knew it did no good. King George V fired a shot that went right into his side as he shouted, “How do you like it!” Bismarck’s eyes fell to the sea while the other ships fired upon him each time praying that the next shell would be the final, deadly shell.

It was then the ships around him stopped firing, and Bismarck slowly looked up to see why.  The fourth ship, the Dorsetshire, had spoken up and that was what had made them stop. Bismarck looked up at the ship with sad eyes as he simply said, “Please, I don’t want to kill any more. Destroy me now.” Dorsetshire smiled a kindly smile at the tormented Bismarck as his crew prepared the torpedo. Without a word the shot had been fired and Bismarck’s side exploded in a fireball.

“Thank you.” Were the last words he’d ever spoken before he slipped beneath the waves.

Oct. 7th, 2007 01:15 pm A SHIP'S LOVE

A Ship's Love

[Basically a story of titanic and Carpathia before titanic sank]

Any human you ask would say that there is no greater love than that of two ships. A perfect example of this would be the love between two very famous ships...the R.M.S. Carpathia and the R.M.S. Titanic...

Carpethia waited patently at the hidden cove where Titanic promised to meet her. She knew it would be even harder for Titanic to get away from his harbor, being still young and having such high expectations placed upon him my his cruel owner, J. Bruce Ismay. She decided to stare up at the stars to keep her mind occupied.

She knew that, because she and Titanic's companies were great rivals, there love was forbidden by the humans. This didn't stop the two of them.

"Psssst!" Carpethia heard Titanic say, "Carpathia is it safe?"

She looked around for any ship that might be near by and when she'd seen none she replied, "Yes my love."

Titanic appeared from the shadows and Carpethia squealed with delight as she rushed towards him. They rubbed their bows together, their engines purring like two large cats.

"I'm so glad you were able to get away." Carpathia said, "I was so worried, I thought Ismay might have figured us out."

Titanic chuckled and said, "Have no fear of that, Ismay couldn't figure out how to pour water out of a boot with instructions on it’s heal."

Carpethia laughed, she was so glad they were together again, even if it were for a short while. Her world always felt so complete whenever he would hold her.

It was then their perfect paradise was shattered by the bright intensity of a large flood light that was cast upon them. They both squinted into the bright light, unable to see anything.

"AHA I GOT YOU NOW YOU DISOBEDIENT BOAT!" Titanic heard Ismay's voice shout as he felt 3 mooring ropes fall over his forward ballasts, "I KNEW IF I LET YOU SLIP AWAY TONIGHT YOU'D LEAD ME RIGHT TO YOU LITTLE FRIEND HERE!"

"TITANIC! WHAT'S GOING ON, I'M SCARED!" Carpethia shouted in fear as she clung closer to him.

"Don't worry, we'll get through this." Titanic said.

Ismay was standing on one of 3 tugboats as he spoke, "Now you're coming back with me and I’m going to make sure you never see this boat again. You were forbidden to fraternize with any Cunarder and now you must pay the consequences."

"NO PLEASE!" Carpethia cried.

"Let's go." Ismay said to the captain.

The tugboats started off as they dragged Titanic away. Carpethia wanted to rush after him but she knew that would only make things worse for him so she only blasted her horn in sorrow as she thought, "I'll never love another."

Titanic blasted his horn as if to say the same thing to her.

For the next 2 weeks Carpethia was miserable. Her love was just ripped from her side by some scrawny little human and she couldn't do a thing about it. Even though she'd been told, or I guess you could say it was more or less suggested to her, by her captain to stay away she just couldn't.

"Trust me Carpethia." Captain Rostern said, "You don't want to go down there, you won't like it."

"What do you mean?" Carpethia asked, "That's my mate there, of course I want to go."

Rostern knew there was no use in changing her mind once it was made up and this situation was no different.

He smiled at her and said, "Then i wish you luck."

"Thank you sir." Carpethia said as she then sailed off for the White Star docks.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She had just arrived at the docks to find that her captain was right.
Titanic was tightly tied to his dock and looking very sad, his massive funnels hung low in sorrow.
"Oh my sweet love." Carpethia whispered with tears in her eyes.
She could tell that he'd been tied up for days by the way he sat so low in the water and with a bit of a list. Right now Carpethia wanted to go right up to him and cut those awful binds, setting him free once and for all. They had often talked about running away together but now the idea sounded better than ever. Her owners really didn't mind but she could tell they weren't too thrilled about it, the only one it seemed to bother was Ismay.
It was then she spotted him walking towards Titanic, his walking stick creating a rhythmic taping sound on the deck. Carpethia couldn't leave now; she had to know what this monster had in mind for her love.
Titanic growled at Ismay, knowing that Ismay knew enough magic to at least put it into that walking stick of his and use it to harm Titanic. Right now he just didn't care.
"DON'T you growl at me!" Ismay said as he struck Titanic's hull with the stick, causing him great pain, "You brought this on yourself."
Titanic shook his bow as if to shake the pain off and then snorted at Ismay. Ismay only raised his chin and chuckled, "Why do you put yourself through this kind of torture when you know I’ve already forbidden you from seeing her."
Titanic had refused, along time ago, to ever speak a word to Ismay because he knew that Ismay would never listen to a word he had to say. In fact            the only humans he'd ever spoken to was his captain and Thomas Andrews, the man who raised him from a child when his parents died.
"Why must you be so stubborn, you don't see your brother or sister acting this way." Ismay said, "Then again Andrews did seem to spoil you."
Titanic let out a snarl as he attempted to bite Ismay and would have done so, if the ropes that bound him weren't so short.
Ismay looked at the deck hands standing by and said, "No one is to be allowed near this ship for 2 weeks, maybe that might break this stubborn streak of his."
Ismay went back to his office as Titanic sadly sighed to himself and went back to staring at the sea.
Tears begun to fall from Carpathian’s eyes as she rushed back to her dock.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(2 weeks later)

Carpethia had returned to her secret hiding place she had visited several times to see the now miserable Titanic still tied to his dock.

She knew that soon he'd have to be set free for his sea trials. She smiled at this prospect, knowing that he'd have a short break in his "punishment" which was more like torture to a ship, considering how they love to be able to come and go as they please and hated to be tied up. She was glad her owners were considerate of that by never using mooring ropes on their ships.

Titanic quickly snapped up and growled; his funnels flat against his boat deck. Ismay had walked up to him.

"I see these past two weeks have taught you nothing. I must say you are an interesting ship." Ismay mused, "Never in all my years have I seen a ship fight its master for so long. They all submitted so quickly, but that's because they knew in the end it was futile to do otherwise."

Ismay sighed and said, "I guess we'll have to work on that, I do hope you drop this act before your voyage, it'll look to bad on the White Star Line you understand."

Titanic only growled deeper at this man.

"Of coarse you wouldn’t understand; I should have known better than to try and explain anything to a ship." Ismay said as he sighed, "Oh well."

Carpethia saw 3 tugs coming towards Titanic and she knew this was because it was time to start his sea trials.

They each threw a rope around one of Titanic's ballasts and towed him off for Belfast to start his sea trials.

Carpethia looked on, unable to shake the feeling this was the last time she'd see him alive again.
